Finding the right financial advisor can be a challenge. To help in your search, the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) has put together the infographic below. It’s an excellent resource that can assist you in gathering the right information and asking the right questions.
For those not aware, NAPFA is a professional association of Fee-Only financial advisors. The definition of a Fee-Only advisor is someone who is only compensated by fees received directly from clients. There are no commissions, no kickbacks, no referral fees, etc. This eliminates many conflicts of interest inherently found in most advisor-client relationships. It also underlies NAPFA’s long-time advocacy of the fiduciary standard, which requires members to always put client interests above their own.
Consumer education is also a priority for NAPFA, as they provide information to help the public make quality decisions when choosing a financial professional.
